2nd line IT Engineer (Contractor)

Location:  UK ONLY – Remote (with potential for occasional in-person collaboration and site visits, dependent on project needs)

Ideal for: People wanting to break into the IT industry, or retuning after a gap.

Salary: Starting from £15 per hour (depending on experience) with opportunity to increase rapidly.

Contract Type: Contractor (flexible, long-term opportunity for the right fit)

Please be aware that this is a contractor role. The successful candidate will operate on a freelance basis and will be responsible for managing their own taxes and National Insurance.

The Role:

We’re on the lookout for a talented IT Engineer to join our team. This is a contractor position, with the potential to develop into a long-term partnership. You’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems that are robust, secure, and inclusive for our client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide IT support and troubleshooting for clients and internal projects.
  • Design and implement secure solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure accessibility and inclusivity in all IT solutions.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and backups.
  • Ensure all projects comply with data protection and cybersecurity standards, including GDPR.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in the IT field or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, system administration, and cybersecurity.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft, and macOS environments.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud, RMM solutions, and managed antivirus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good customer service manner.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with accessibility technologies and standards.
  • Knowledge of inclusive design principles.

Personal Attributes:

  • Passionate about fostering an inclusive digital environment.
  • Open-minded and adaptable to working with diverse teams.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Committed to continuous learning and professional growth.
